Tumuaki/Principal Twizel Area School
Twizel Area School is a decile 8 state co-educational area school for students in Years 1 - 13. The school is at the centre of the expanding Twizel township and acts as a hub for parents and community. There is a ‘whānau feel’ in the school.
Over the last six years the roll has steadily increased to 232, with new industry and tourism attracting people to the area. The school has recently been allocated funding for a rebuild to the value of $21 million.
Located in the Canterbury high country with the Southern Alps at our door, we have a comprehensive outdoor education programme that includes all Y1 - 13 students. We also have a strong drama programme, with our students gaining national recognition.
We are looking for a professional leader who sets high standards and has a proven track record of leadership. Experience managing and dealing with change is a definite advantage, as well as project management skills.
You will have excellent communication skills, people management skills and the ability to connect and build strong relationships with staff, students and the parent community, as well as the wider community. The ability to galvanise a school community around a common vision is essential. Being approachable, inclusive and consultative is also important for this role, as well as being culturally aware and responsive.
